I first walked in to Warlock in April of 2015 and immediately fell in love. I had always been active and taken good care of myself, but I was curious about CrossFit and wanted to try it.
About 2 years in, I started to stall, I was not happy with where I was. I knew I could do better, and I just did not feel well. I did not like the road I was traveling and decided that I wanted to control my own story.
I started with sleep. Got that under control. Next up was alcohol. I knew I was drinking too much and that if I wanted the results I would need to do something different. I decided to give it up for 100 days and see how I felt. OK, that worked. Bye, Bye Wine.
I signed up for one on one training with Erik. Not only am I learning A LOT, I have a lot of fun.
I went along like this for about 8 months trying Paleo, and discovered that wheat is not my friend. Sugar, not a friend either. My knees stopped aching. OK, no more knee sleeves, another win.
Finally, I decided to sign up for the Nutrition coaching. I will admit that I did not want to do this. I had been talking to Erik about it for a few months, each time talking myself out of it. Finally, one day I just said, “Sign me up”. I drove home saying “Damm, what did I just do? I have to commit to 3 months and I am not sure if I can do it.” I was afraid. Of many things, mostly failure. I decided that I would give it all I had. The results were amazing. This was a game changer!
I am down about 20 pounds since I started CrossFit, most of that is attributed to the nutrition coaching. Most importantly, I feel SO much better! Even MORE important is that I am proud of myself. I can do pull ups, a goal since day 1. I wore a 2-piece bathing suit on vacation. I still have to double check the size on my clothes to make sure it is correct. I look at pictures and think, maybe it’s the lighting.
The incredible support that I receive from the coaches and members at Warlock still blows me away!
I have to give a lot of credit to Erik; I would not have achieved this without his support. Yes, I had to do the work, but I needed and still need help. I learned that it is OK to want more. You are never too old, too out of shape or too anything to start.
My advice to those of you reading this is to set high goals, face your fears and ask for help. If you want to do it, you CAN!
